Peggy received her Bachelor of Science in zoology with a specialization in wildlife management from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She also holds a Master of Education from Northern Illinois University. There she specialized in curriculum and instruction. Her interests are the people and wildlife interfaces where conflict can occur with wildlife interactions. Doty also has a passion for helping native pollinators through programming and has a fascination with how the human race treats its water supply.
Prior to her position as unit Educator for Boone, DeKalb and Ogle counties she was the Natural Resource Educator for DeKalb County. Combined she has worked for Extension for the last 20 years.
Doty received the 2007 Outstanding Alumnus Award from the Northern Illinois University’s College of Education. The award was for her contributions to the field of outdoor and environmental education.
Doty’s current community involvement include being a co-chairperson for the DeKalb County Community Foundation’s Land Use committee. She has been a member of this committee from its inauguration and is able to bring knowledge, experiences, and resources as an Extension employee. She continues to be an Associate Director on the DeKalb County Soil and Water Conservation District board.
